Your "fast" was a bit faster than mine, and your "slow" was a bit slower than mine, but the results were very similar. I learned a lot, too.

That said, especially for your first outing, this was a fantastic result. My first marathon time was 4:26 something. BQs and PRs will come shortly for you I'm sure. Your tips/lessons on hydration is very keen and insightful. Despite the cramps and hydration issues, you did fantastic and should be very proud! The Laminatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17171521739644023071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4296469728318427666.post-51316267361004192472010-11-14T12:49:37.677-08:002010-11-14T12:49:37.677-08:00Drew, you did great. My bet is that you'll BQ in your next one. Bottom line is that you finished 18/72 in your age group with a very respectable time. And you finished strong :-)mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02422843999066508984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4296469728318427666.post-50383205564082774042010-11-14T02:10:36.131-08:002010-11-14T02:10:36.131-08:00Drew,

I felt so good in the early miles that I did not take enough water and when I did take the aid station cups they just did not contain enough to supply what I needed. I too cramped in the late miles and I believe it was from dehydration. Your will to keep moving and finish was amazing. I am proud of your effort. You will definitely BQ in the very near future and post some astounding marathon finishes.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17908979815329886592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4296469728318427666.post-19210808969770076512010-11-13T20:34:10.252-08:002010-11-13T20:34:10.252-08:00Drew, to finish the race under those conditions is...Drew, to finish the race under those conditions is a testament to your fortitude and commitment, and you should be very proud not just of completing your first marathon, but of your high finish and great time. Yes, it wasn't quite your goal but I don't think anyone knows what to expect in their first marathon. Perhaps salt tabs may play a key role for you in future races, but regardless, you should take some time to enjoy what you have achieved through your diligent training and pure heart out on that course today. Hope you recover well!Greg Strosakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07155386553090577612noreply@blogger.com
